Sampoerna School of Education (SSE) or officially named STKIP Kebangkitan Nasional is an international teacher-education institution under the auspices of Putera Sampoerna Foundation. SSE has an aim to create the new generation of teachers who are competent in its field, professional, and meet the qualification to face the global era. Opened in 2009, SSE is having 2 departments, which are Mathematics Education and English Language Teaching. These teacher candidates are expected to be able to teach in international standard schools around the country.
In this time SSE has 298 students that divided into 4 cohorts, 89 students in the first cohort of 2009, 100 students belong to the cohort of 2010, 89 students belong to the 2011 cohort and the rest 20 students belong to the 2012 cohort. Beside of academic needs, these 298 students also need a media for them to canalize their soft skill needs. In order to support that needs, on January 15th 2010 we formed Senat Mahasiswa SSE (SSE Students Senate) for the very first time. This organization aimed to shade all students’ activities so that those activities can support their development in order to be Indonesia’s new generation of teachers. Those activities, to ease the management, are separated into smaller organizations that focus on certain student’s soft skill. These smaller organizations named as Students Club (UKM). Until now, there are 11 UKM in SSE, they are SSE Muslim Family (SMILY), SSE Christian Community (SCC) , Choir (Seraf Voce), Formosa F.C, Math Club, Debate Club, Movie Club, Table Tennis Club, Dance Club (Tatra Abhirama), Entrepreneur Club and ICT Club.
Inside SEMA itself, the focusing of students activities are separated into four divisions. The divisions are Division of Education, Division of Youth and Society Empowerment, Division of Human Resources Development (HRD), and Division of Media and Public Relation (MPR). Each division is led by an HoD (Head of Divison) and supported by several members. Above those divisions, the execution of daily policies is held by SEMA’s main managements. The management that consist of President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer, supported HoD, has a job to arrange all students’ activities agenda so that everything can be done smooth, orderly, and not collide each other.
