First Prevention for Viruses Attack
Virus is one of the biggest threats in the computer technology system. The first prevention act to avoid virus injection and infection on the computer is turning off computer Autoplay system.
Why must Autoplay?
Autoplay is a feature in windows operating system that enable computer to run/load Autorun file that contains of several command to load file(s) in the storage media that has just we plug in into computer (e.g. Flashdisk or CD/DVD). The main purpose of this feature is to access the ‘content’ of storage media easier. Unfortunately, some people who has knowledge about this feature see Autoplay as a vulnerable that could be the great bridge to inject a virus to the computer via USB flash disk, CD ROM, DVD, or other device. By writing several line command in the Autorun to load virus(es) on the storage media, a virus could enter and infect computer easily.
The prevention to patch this vulnerable is turn off the Autoplay system. The steps are:
1. Open start, click run and type “gpedit.msc”, then enter
2. Click “user configuration” options, and then click “administrative templates”
3. Click “system” options, then on the setting panel (beside the folder systems), double click “turn off Autoplay”.
4. Then select “enable”. After that, on the “turn off Autoplay on”, select all drives. Then click OK.
5. For windows seven click “windows component” then click “Autoplay Policies”, then on the setting panel (beside the folder system), double click on “Turn off Autoplay”.
6. Then select “enable”. After that, on the “turn off Autoplay on”, select all drives. Then click OK.
By applying these steps, computer’s autoplay will turned off and one of the greatest virus bridge to enter computer will be closed.
